Verb-Casual + くせに

Noun + のくせに

なadjective + なくせに

いadjective + くせに

Just remember, this is kinda used with a negative connotation, kinda like if you're criticising someone.

痩せたいくせにいっぱいお菓子を食べた

Yasetai kuse ni ippai okashi o tabeta

Although I want to lose weight I ate alot of sweets.

漢字を書けると言ったくせに書けなかった

Kanji o kakeru to itta kuse ni kakenakatta

Although he said he could write Kanji, he couldn't.

精一杯勉強したいと言ったくせに毎日勉強していなかった

Seiippai benkyō shitai to itta kuse ni mainichi benkyō shite inakatta

Althought he said he wanted to study hard, he wasn't studying everyday

日本語を読めると言ったくせに子供の日本語の本も読めなかった

Nihongo o yomeru to itta kuse ni kodomo no nihongo no hon mo yomenakatta

Although he said he could read japanese, he couldn't even read a children's Japanese book

先生のくせに学生のようだ

Sensei no kuse ni gakusei no yōda

Although he is a teacher, he's like a student

早いくせにまだ着いていなかった

Hayai kuse ni mada tsuite inakatta

Although it is fast, it still has not arrived yet

この古い居酒屋は賑やかなくせに誰もいない

Kono furui izakaya wa nigiyakana kuse ni daremoinai

Although this old izakaya is lively, there is no one here

動物が嫌いなくせにたくさんペットを飼っています

Dōbutsu ga kiraina kuse ni takusan petto o katte imasu

Although I don't like animals I have alot of pets.

このソファーは快適なくせに眠れない

Kono sofā wa kaitekina kuse ni nemurenai

Although this sofa is comfortable, I can't sleep

この答えは実用的なくせにみんなは使っていない

Kono kotae wa jitsuyō-tekina kuse ni min'na wa tsuka tte inai

Although this answer is practical, no one is using it.

時間がないくせにまだゴロゴロしています

Jikan ga nai kuse ni mada gorogoro shite imasu

Although there is no time, he is still lazing around

この機械は値段が高いくせに役に立ったなかった。

Kono kikai wa nedan ga takai kuse ni yakunitatta nakatta.

Sentences(例文)

1.なるべく早く走ったのに、彼を捕まえられなかった。

Narubeku hayaku hashitta no ni, kare o tsukamae rarenakatta.

Although I ran as fast as possible, I could not catch him.

2.今かぜの季節だからなるべく出かけるのは避けたい

Ima kaze no kisetsudakara narubeku dekakeru no wa saketai

I want to avoid going out as much as possible because it is a cold season now
